Connecting art and humanity through theatre

TAPT was founded in 2006 as a means for artists to come together to support one another to grow. The company is an artistic platform fashioned to foster the careers of the artists involved while reminding one another that the world is bigger, more open and more positive than often thought.  Theatre creates community; it is a perfect example to remind us that human contact is not obsolete.

We are fully engaged and work to uplift the lives of our artists and audiences through every production and event. We connect in talk back discussions and social interaction sessions generating new relationships built through art, but truly about life.

We believe firmly that the moment an audience member comes into our space it is our mission to welcome and engage them creating an instant sense of acceptance and unity.  The key is that theatre is experienced by everyone involved.  We use the participating artists as vehicles for change.

Our responsibility and our ability to work for the good of humanity are both professional and personal. We are passionate about our work; about plays that encompass the many perspectives on the human condition, and about the process and the unique power of theatre.

In our work we seek perspective. We use themes to reach out and gather diverse insights on one subject matter at a time. Our one act series, Short Cutz is built by choosing a specific theme then soliciting plays based on that theme.  We seek to show distinctive views on one topic while exploring the similarities to generate conversation and build understanding.

“I have had the privilege of participating in two readings by The Artists' Playground Theater.  One as an actor, and the other as an audience member.  It might seem funny to count myself as a participant when I was simply watching, but that's what makes TAPT such a unique and necessary entity in our community.  Their mandate, which they definitely accomplish, is not simply to present works, but to initiate conversations and discussions.  The plays they present, besides being consistently of the highest caliber, are mere jumping-off points to get the entire community present to take part, evaluate, and express themselves.  This makes TAPT a forum where people who might not have an opportunity to discuss issues close to them, can do just that.  I have nothing but the utmost respect for their work, and hope to see them continue that work long into the future.”
